Getting Started
Do I need an invitation to join?
Yes. Shabash is invite-only. Every new family joins using a Golden Ticket code shared by an existing Shabash family. This keeps the community tight-knit and spam-free.
If you don’t have a code yet, you can join the waitlist from the sign-up page and we’ll reach out when a spot opens up.
How do I get a Golden Ticket?
Golden Tickets are awarded to families once they complete the core onboarding steps: verify your email, add at least one child, and create your first chore and reward. After that, your dashboard shows a unique code with 5 invite slots you can share with friends.
How long does it take to set up?
Most families are fully up and running in under 5 minutes. Add your children, create a handful of chores with star values, and set up a couple of rewards. That’s it — kids can start earning straight away.
Is Shabash free?
Yes, Shabash is free to use. There are no subscription fees, no in-app purchases, and no ads.
Family & Accounts
Can multiple parents manage the same family?
Yes. Once you invite another parent using their email, they will have equal access to chores, rewards, and settings for the family.
How do kids log in?
Kids don’t need their own account. A parent or adult logs into the site and switches to Kids Mode, or parents can go to Settings and generate a family shared link. Opening that link on a child’s device gives them access to their personal view without being able to change family settings.
How many children can I add?
There is no hard limit. You can add as many children as your family needs.
Can I remove a child from the family?
Yes. Parents can remove a child from the family in the settings. Their completed chore history is preserved for record-keeping, but they will no longer appear on the active dashboard.
What happens if I forget my password?
Use the Forgot Password link on the sign-in page. A reset code will be sent to your registered email address.
How do I delete my account?
You can request account deletion from the account settings page. This permanently removes all family data including chores, rewards, and star history.
Chores
Who can create chores?
Both parents and kids can create chores. Parents can assign chores to any family member. Kids can suggest new chores, which parents can approve, edit, or decline.
Can chores repeat automatically?
Yes. When creating a chore you can set a frequency — daily, weekly, monthly, or a custom interval. Recurring chores reappear automatically so you never have to re-enter them.
What are “buckets”?
Buckets are categories you can use to group chores. Common examples are Morning, Homework, Yard, or Kitchen. Buckets make it easy to filter the dashboard and keep things organised.
Can I pause chores temporarily?
Yes. Any chore can be paused (archived) without deleting it — useful during school holidays or busy periods. Paused chores can be restored at any time.
What is the approval workflow?
Parents can require that completed chores go through an approval step before stars are awarded. The child marks a chore done, a parent reviews it, and then approves or sends it back. This is optional — you can also set chores to auto-approve.
Can I delete a chore?
Parents and admins can delete chores. Deleting a chore also removes any associated star transactions from the history.
Rewards & Stars
How are stars earned?
Stars are earned when a chore is marked complete and (optionally) approved by a parent. Each chore has a star value you set when creating it.
How are rewards redeemed?
Kids can browse the reward catalogue and redeem a reward once they have enough stars. Parents can require an approval step before the star deduction happens, giving you a chance to confirm before the reward is claimed.
Can I customise what rewards are worth?
Absolutely. You set both the star value of chores and the star cost of rewards. This lets you calibrate the system to your family — a quick task might earn 5 stars, while a big reward might cost 200.
Can kids see each other’s star balances?
Yes — by default all family members can see the shared dashboard, including each other’s star totals. This encourages a little friendly competition and transparency. Future settings updates may allow you to hide balances if you prefer.
What are achievement badges?
Achievements are milestone rewards that unlock automatically — for example, completing a chore 10 times in a row, or earning 100 total stars. They are a great way to recognise effort over time, not just individual tasks.
Privacy & Safety
What data do you collect?
Shabash collects only what is needed to run the app: your email address, family member names (which you choose), and the chores and rewards you create. We collect no device identifiers, no usage analytics, and no behavioural data.
Do you sell family data?
Never. Your family’s information is used solely to provide the Shabash service. We have no ad network and no third-party data partnerships.
Is it safe for children?
Yes. Children never create accounts or provide personal information. They access the app through a parent-generated family link or Kids Mode session managed by the parent. There is no public profile and no way for strangers to find or contact your children through Shabash.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored on secure servers. It is never processed by external AI services or third-party analytics platforms.
For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
AI Assistant
What is the AI Assistant?
The AI Assistant is an upcoming feature that acts as your family’s smart coach. It accepts natural language commands (“Mark Clean Yard as done for Ahmed”), sends proactive reminders when chores are overdue or approvals are piling up, and celebrates milestones in real time.
When is it coming?
The AI Assistant is currently in development. Existing families will be the first to get access when it launches. See the AI Assistant feature page for a full preview.
Will the AI Assistant cost extra?
No. Like everything else in Shabash, the AI Assistant will be free to use. The underlying model runs entirely on our own server — there are no per-request cloud API costs.
Will my conversations with the AI leave the app?
No. The AI runs on-device inside the Shabash server using a lightweight on-premise model. Nothing is sent to OpenAI, Google, or any other external AI service. Your conversations stay within your family account.
Technical
What devices and browsers are supported?
Shabash is a responsive web application that works on any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge — on phones, tablets, and desktops. No app download is required.
Can I add Shabash to my home screen?
Yes. On iOS, open the site in Safari and tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, tap the browser menu and select Add to Home Screen. This gives you an app-like experience without going through an app store.
Does Shabash send notifications?
Real-time updates are pushed to all connected family members while the app is open. Push notification support for when the app is closed is on the roadmap.
Can I export my family’s data?
Data export is on the roadmap. For now, chore and star history is visible within the app.
